A UKIP councillor in Kent has been expelled from her party for allegedly making ‘jaw-dropping’ comments made on a yet-to-be broadcast TV interview.
Thanet councillor Rozanne Duncan was expelled after being accused of bringing her party into disrepute.
While Cllr Duncan’s comments have yet to be made public, a source told Kent Online the remarks made in a TV interview were ‘jaw dropping’.
A party spokesperson said: ‘Ukip is expelling Cllr Rozanne Duncan under rule 15 of its constitution for bringing the party into disrepute. She has 28 days to appeal.’
Cllr Duncan was elected to Thanet Council's Cliftonville East ward in 2013. At the time of her election, she let slip that party leader Nigel Farage would stand for election in the constituency next year.
Cllr Duncan was unable to be reached for comment.
