The South West has been given £191m in Local Growth Funding to help create jobs and encourage economic development by the Government.
The money will support projects that deliver new jobs, homes and infrastructure, such as unlocking a 91 hectare site at Bridgewater and a new roundabout in Gloucester.
‘The South West is home to some of Britain’s top businesses, and they know the best way to create jobs and boost growth in their local area,’ said communities secretary Sajid Javid.
‘That’s why we’re backing their ideas with almost £1bn for business and infrastructure projects across the region, so the South West can reach its full potential, and we create a country that works for everyone.’
More than £9bn of the Local Growth Fund has already been awarded to Local Enterprise Partnerships, helping kick-start 1,000 projects.
