Councils need to adopt three ‘core principles’ to successfully deliver local digital public services, according to a new guide.
Digital: Vision to Value urges organisations to innovate to empower citizens and communities, redesign services to make them simpler and automated and collaborate to share and re-use resources and assets.
The briefing has been produced by Socitm, the professional body for local authority ICT professionals.
‘The potential benefits for local government include reduced costs, increased efficiency and better outcomes,’ it said. ‘Digital can also stimulate innovation, enable new ways of working, and help to re-shape relationships between citizens, communities and local government.’
