Peterborough City Council has said it is ‘incredibly sorry’ after almost 2,000 local people were sent an incorrect election ballot paper.
Voters in three local wards are thought to have received incorrect parliamentary election ballot sheets, which the town hall blamed on the company in charge of printing and sending out the forms.
Residents may have received the wrong postal ballot paper. We are aware & are writing to everyone affected on what to do now. More to follow

A team of local authority employees is now said to be working ‘round the clock’ to solve the problem.
Gillian Beasley, chief executive of Peterborough City Council, said the town hall ‘immediately contacted the Electoral Commission to discuss with them how best to put this situation right and have now written to each resident affected explaining what to do next’.
’A mistake was made by the company that printed and posted the ballot forms on our behalf,’ she added. ‘Our hard working team of election staff is now working round the clock to make sure everybody affected receives new ballot papers and no incorrect votes are counted.
‘We are obviously incredibly sorry for the inconvenience caused.’
