Barnsley Council has approved £2.5m of funding for three Yorkshire Rose sculptures in the town centre.
The sculptures will be between 12m and 15m and will include integrated lighting and audio elements.
They will act as a gateway to the Seam Digital Campus, which is part of a £11.97m regeneration effort to promote Barnsley as a digital hub.
Robin Franklin, cabinet member for regeneration and culture, said the sculptures aimed to transform the area into an ‘iconic attraction’, the BBC reports.
He added it would help ‘promote the town centre, and act as the catalyst for the next phase of the project, which will include the DMC [Digital Media Centre] three, and the national centre for digital technology.’
