Applications are now being taken for the 2015 LG Challenge, which aims to find the next generation of local government chief executives.
The LG Challenge is organised by the Local Government Association (LGA) and will provide the winner with a £10,000 scholarship to fund the development of his or her idea for promoting localism and local government.
Claire Holloway, head of corporate governance at the LGA, said: ‘Every year we are tremendously impressed with the calibre of LG Challenge applicants and the drive and determination with which they approach the tasks thrown at them.
‘Previous winners have described the LG Challenge as a defining moment in their career. We want to encourage all aspiring local government employees to enter what promises to be a vibrant, inspiring and rewarding competition, which will see the future leadership stars of the future shine bright.’
Ten candidates will be chosen to face five challenges to demonstrate creativity, problem-solving and forward-thinking. Contestants must work for an LGA member authority and the deadline for applications is 30 September 2014.
This year's winner was Graeme Kane, strategic leadership manager at Mole Valley Council.
