The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has completed assessments of adult social care at five councils under its pilot scheme.
The watchdog found Birmingham City Council, Lincolnshire CC, North Lincolnshire Council and Suffolk CC were ‘ensuring people have access to a good standard of adult social care and support’, while Nottingham City Council ‘requires improvement’ to do so.
As the first authorities to undergo the new assessments, the results remain indicative.
Each authority was given a rating between one and four on nine different areas, including leadership, safeguarding and providing support.
Chairman of the Local Government Association’s community wellbeing board, David Fothergill, said it was ‘an important moment for adult social care’ and that LGA ‘will meet with the pilot councils to understand their views on their indicative rating’.
The CQC plans to rollout assessments nationally from next month.
