Councillors and council staff are set to take part in a 24-hour social media marathon today, showcasing their daily experiences in local government.
Using the Twitter hashtag #OurDay, elected members and town hall employees will share their daily experiences until the end of the day. Last year 11,000 tweets were sent from 3,500 local government Twitter accounts.
‘Councils do a huge amount of work for their communities every day, but this is not always clear to our resident,’ said Cllr Peter Fleming, chair of the LGA’s Improvement and Innovation Board.
‘#OurDay is a chance for us to tell the many stories of 24 hours in the life of a council, from providing care for the most vulnerable in our society to fixing potholes to cleaning our streets,’ he said.
