Unhappy councils are seeking assurances from revenues and benefits software supplier Capita there will be no more data breaches after a number of incidents.
The MJ understands that local authorities want to be reassured that such incidents will not happen again but Capita has not been able to guarantee this.
Councils have also claimed that Capita initially denied personal data was involved in the breach.
The national cyber security team at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities and affected local authorities have sought further information from Capita.
